Toa Cocoa: Bionicle MOC

Description

Toa Cocoa was once a Matoran from the large island of Maya Nui. However she was destined to become the mighty Toa of Chocolate! With control over all things chocolatey! As you can imagine this power doesn't come in handy very often, so she supplements her elemental powers with her fondue stick, and her mask of melting in people's hands.

Hehe, this was just a silly idea after I bought an Akaku Nuva in brown, and it looked surprisingly chocolatey. Well after several months of sitting on the idea I finally gave it a try, and it couldn't be at a worse time either. The particular shade of brown I wanted to use was largely used up on several MOCs (Burning Tree, Fusa, Hate), but adversity breeds creativity. I basically had some masks and mismatched armor pieces, but I pulled through and made a pretty awesome build with them. It ended up looking rather feminine, so I inverted my expectations and Toa Cocoa became a chick. Once I was done, I really wanted to push the chocolate motif, so I made a strawberry as a headdress. I was expecting it to be a brick once I was done, but the build entirely by accident ended up being very well articulated. All in all, I'm very proud of this one. A detail that I adore is the way the Kakama on her chest forms a very subtle sternum, and, well you know what else.
Another discussion entirely is the theme, all I went in with was a chocolate themed Toa that used the brown Akaku Nuva. However a variety of things managed to work their way in. Kill Bill part 1 happened to be on TV when I was building this, so a tiny bit of that creeped in. The textures on her body also represent different varieties of chocolate, her hips are dark chocolate bars, her crotch armor and mask are fondue, and that's pretty much it. The biggest and largely accidental theme was a South/Central American vibe, which is fitting considering cocoa beans are indigenous to there. So yeah, almost all of this MOC was an accident...
